Jet Aviation Pares Down Basel, Switzerland Staff

Jet Aviation this week laid off 94 full-time employees at its completions and maintenance facility in Basel, Switzerland. The employees were allowed to leave work immediately yesterday but will be paid for another two or three months, depending on the terms of their contracts. Tag Still Fighting for Increased Traffic at Farnborough

Tag Aviation has appealed a local government ruling last month that blocked its application to increase annual movements at the London-area Farnborough Airport from 28,000 to 50,000. The central government’s Department for Communities and Local Government received the appeal on Monday and this will likely order a public inquiry to begin next year. Bombardier Aerospace today confirmed that its Global Express XRS jet set a new speed record on October 26, 2009, flying 4,994 nm (9,249 km) non-stop from Mexico City to Paris in just ten hours.
